What is Spirit of Math?
Spirit of Math is a system of after-school schools for high performing students in grades 1 to 11. At more than 40 campus locations in Canada and the U.S., students attend a weekly class after their day school and learn our unique curriculum from a specially trained Spirit of Math teacher. Students studying math using the unique Spirit of Math method continue to place on National and International contest honor rolls, some receiving perfect scores every year. This last year alone there were over 1500 placements on these honor rolls. Why Math? Math is a foundation skill for the sciences, finance, accounting, engineering, technology and other in-demand professions. Our approach to math teaches critical thinking, flexible problem solving and other skills that have benefits in all subject areas and outside of the classroom. How we’re Unique There are lots of tutoring services and worksheet based programs for students who are struggling with math. But what about the bright and gifted children yearning to learn more? Spirit of Math challenges these students, encouraging them to learn together, and introducing them to important math concepts that give them the foundation to tackle increasingly complex topics. The program integrates four elements: drills, our core curriculum, competition-level problem solving and cooperative group work at every grade level. Every class also includes mental math that lets our students put their learning into practice in a fun and tangible way. Our students come to us from some of the top public, private and gifted schools in the country.
