Description
We seek to develop a wide and diverse community that is able to train in individual disciplines.
Akban is based in Israel and its core practice, traditional Japanese Koryu, has diversified to modern and western disciplines.
Akban is dedicated to the preservation of the combat knowledge gathered through the years in Akban in Israel. Akban is providing its students with a training regime and background that combines rigorous fitness and martial expertise in many fields.
The Nippon Seibukan Dojo, or “School of the Japanese Hall of the Righteous Warrior”, serves as a centre for the preservation and study of the Japanese martial arts, both classical koryu bugei and modern gendai bud?. It was founded in 1952 by Suzuki Masafumi with support from the Imperial House. The Seibukan dojo is located in Ky?to, Kansai region, on the main Japanese Island of Honsh?. At its opening, the Nippon Seibukan was considered one of the world's biggest bud? academies. Within its walls were taught Okinawa G?j?-ry? karated?, Okinawa kobud?, Kodokan j?d?, Mus? Jikiden Eishin-ry? iaid?, kend?, aikid?, j?jutsu, naginata, and jukend?.
In 2008, because of the unauthorized use of the names and logos of the Nippon Seibukan Academy, Zen Nihon Sogo-Bud? Renmei or SoBuRen on diplomas, certificates and advertising materials, a special international committee was formed to protect the legacy of Suzuki Masafumi-hanshi. The committee is overseen by two shibucho , one for the East and one for the West. Both were appointed by the current Director/President of the Nippon Seibukan Dojo, Kawano Yasuo-hanshi. In addition, trustworthy shidoin have been appointed by Kawano-hanshi to serve in their respective countries. These committee delegates assist in verifying Nippon Seibukan Dojo diplomas, evaluating curriculum, and screening applicants for membership of the Nippon Seibukan Dojo and All Japan Bud? Federation.
In Canada, Akban is represented by Oded Levy, a student of Yossi Sheriff, the founder of Akban.
