Description
The Little Claybelt Homesteaders Museum is a small heritage and homesteaders museum located in lovely Temiskaming Shores (New Liskeard). The museum strives to preserve the history of the Little Claybelt region from the 1880’s to the 1950’s. Located next to Miss Claybelt, New Liskeard’s well-known 18-foot Holstein cow statue, the museum is easy to find. Open in the summer months, from mid-June to the end of August, Little Claybelt Homesteaders Museum is a great addition to summer vacations.
The museum keeps its main purpose in front sight – to reflect the variety of aspects that influenced pioneers’ lives. Farm implements, household items, toys, telephones, and lots of other items are on display to teach visitors a thing or two about what life was like from the 1880’s to the 1950’s. The main exhibit is changed periodically, so there’s always something new to learn about. Beyond the main exhibit, the museum always welcomes touring exhibits, so be sure to come back every summer to see something different!
