Ms. Chotalia has over 30 years of expertise in immigration law. She handles a range of matters in the area of immigration law including appeal hearings, judicial reviews in the Federal Court of Canada, sponsorships and various other applications. She has litigated complex cases against the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration and managed complex immigration challenges to successful resolution.
Injury Law
As a lawyer, Ms. Chotalia has broad based litigation experience. In over 25 years she has handled an array of motor vehicle and personal injury claims ranging from traffic infractions, vehicle collisions and fatal accidents. She has litigated many civil actions in the personal injury area (whiplash to brain injury) and has obtained significant settlements for her clients. She is not afraid to take on insurance companies and will fight to ensure that your interests are protected first and foremost.
Employment Law
Ms.Chotalia has litigated complex employment and human rights cases. She has more than 25 years of experience in human rights and employment law. She acted for the Canadian Civil Liberties Association and won the Sikh Turban case, was an intervenor in gay rights case of Vriend at the Supreme Court of Canada and the Court of Appeal of Alberta. She has a broad civil litigation background. She also handles Disciplinary Defence cases. She recently defended an accountant against charges of misconduct based on misrepresentation and successfully opposed a heft costs award: L v. ICCA 2014.
