The Sequoia Breast Cancer Association of Ontario operates under the umbrella of the Breast Cancer Research & Education Fund (BCREF), ON. BCREF is a charitable voluntary sector, community-based organization which initially began as a support group for women living with breast cancer in 1991.
Our founding mandate was to provide women living with and beyond breast cancer with informational and support resources. The foundation of our work has been to further the understanding of breast cancer, particularly the connection between environment and health. Built on a public interest research model, the BCREF seeks to affect social change through research, education and action. Through the development of the Sequoia Breast Cancer Association of Ontario, the BCREF has been able to focus on building various community-based pilot programs that are delivered to those whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer as well as to those who have a keen interest in breast health.
