The Rogue Stylist is a luxury hair studio based in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Former Yorkville darling, Sean Spence has spent the last 10 years of his life making women look and feel beautiful. Just over two years ago, he decided to take the leap and open his own studio in his suburban dream home in Richmond Hill.
At the tender age of 22 he developed a zeal for the craft and set out on a journey to beautify women. He has since accumulated a wealth of experience in both salons and private bookings. His in-salon experience ranges from malls to corporate giants like Holt Renfrew, Toni & Guy and Yorkville favourites such as Salon Daniel and Hair on the Avenue. He’s also worked closely with personalities like America’s Next Top Model, Whitney Thompson and Beauty Expert for the Globe and Mail and former Beauty Specialist for the Marilyn Dennis Show, Bahar Niramwalla. Sean holds the gift of understanding ‘client speak’: a client may hold up a photo of one hairstyle, describe another, and have hair that isn’t conducive to either. He knows how to translate this with his scissors—his sole tool for mastery. He rivals any old-style barber, giving his male clients a killer scissor over comb, while keeping a keen eye on the modern haircut. He prides himself in doing a bang-on fade without using clippers. His specialties for ladies range from short haircuts, curly hair and long, layered cuts without taking length. Sean grew up between small-town rural Ontario and the beaches of Florida—both places that cultivated his masterful skills to listen, observe and have compassion. When he’s not taming tresses, he enjoys spending time with his family and carving wood bowls. THE STUDIO The name ‘Rogue Stylist’ is derived from a combination of Sean’s varied salon experience and his belief in non-conformity and freedom. Open for just over a year, The Rogue Stylist studio manifests a down-to-earth aura built in with all the Yorkville luxuries. Simple, artsy, comfortable and eclectic best describe the ambience of the black and white decorated space. Inspired by Sean and his wife Sarah’s love of excellence, the studio is adorned with art and handcrafted fixtures.
